Peter Jackson's Halo Game to Be Episodic!

At X06 last September, Microsoft announced a collaboration with director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings, King Kong) on not only an adaptation of the Halo series to the big screen, but several videogame projects, including one related to Halo. We've heard nothing on the team-up since, but Gamasutra reports Microsoft executive Shane Kim revealed Jackson's project would be one of two episodic series they're working on, while speaking at GDC

"Our deal with Peter is not about a film guy who wants to make video games. We're in the design phase now. The first series will be set in the Halo universe. In addition to this deal, Jackson continues to executive produce the currently on hiatus Halo feature film."

The typical model for episodic content has been delivering individual episodes via the Internet (or, in this case, Xbox Live) and then distributing a retail product encompassing all the released installments on a disc. Though too early to know if Microsoft will follow that model or something new, the Jackson collaboration is already unique.
