EA: "Sony's dominance is over"

For over 10 years Sony has been in the number 1 spot with no signs of change.  Until recently Sony has never really seen Microsoft or Nintendo as a threat, but statistically no one company has ever held that spot for more then 10 years.

If you go all the way back to Atari, Nintendo to Sega, they have all had their runs at number 1.

When Sony came into the market their only competition was the Sega Saturn which launched at a very high price point and no games (sounds familiar) and they have been riding that wave for some time now but a change is on the horizon.

Sony now has 2 very strong contenders to deal with and it isn't going to be easy this generation and they know it, they would be in complete denial if they didn't see that and I am not the only one who feels this way, EA see's a change on the horizon as well.

Electronic Arts Inc.'s outgoing chief executive Larry Probst on Monday said at an investors meeting with Morgan Stanley:

"We expect that there will be a more level playing field this time around than last time," said Probst, who expects Sony to win the new console war, but with a less commanding lead.

"I think the issue is that (the PS3 is) expensive,"

He went on to say:

"No one should count Sony out at this point in the game. This is going to be a long race,"

What he says there is true, I see Sony hanging in there but not being the dominate force they once were.
