Now I wouldn't be surprised to actually see atleast one of those developers gobbled up by the end of the year but one rumor that I find interesting that I have heard and so has TeamXBOX is and I quote:
The acquisition of Epic Games by Microsoft would be an extremely smart move, reminiscent of Chess Grandmaster Kasparov. Not only would Microsoft be securing the Unreal franchise for Windows and Xbox, it will impede Sony, Nintendo and any other publisher from ever getting the Unreal technology. As a result, the only way to see Unreal visuals would be to get an Xbox or a Windows computer.
There have been rumors of an Epic Games acquisition by Microsoft, but we haven’t reported them because it seems more like fanboy dream than a possible deal. The market value of a developer like Epic Games may be in the billion dollar range, and that means the developer may not be interested at all in being purchased. However, that shouldn’t stop us from dreaming of Microsoft buying Epic Games.
